The Perfect Flight?

Well there are many different kinds of perfect hang gliding flights. This is one I'll always remember. We stopped in the pass on a whim, on the way back from Chelan Sunday evening and hiked our gliders through the snow to launch. At about 6:45 we dove off into big, fat, glassy smooth lift. I think there must have been some kind of drug int the air or the scenery that night because within about 10 minutes we found ourselves laughing and singing at the top of our lungs as we wheeled our way into space over the mountains. What a miracle that humans can find themselves perfectly at home in this environment.

I chased Weerner around for a while to get a few pictures of him. I'm not a great photographer but then no picture could be like being there anyway.

After about an hour, our minds completely blown, we went out to land.

We made one stop on the way out to have an encounter with these two locals. One of them was unconcerned but the other one wasn't sure that he liked the looks of Werner. He ran into a cave and peeked out at him till he flew away.

Uncharacteristically for Rampart, the air was smooth all the way to the ground.

What a life!
